Task 11 Script : Olivia Elliot Beth

Throughout our opening sequence we will not include any dialogue. We are only going to use sound effects and music to build suspense.

Scene 1 - Danielle has come out of school late and has started to walk down the school lane. As she starts walking she drops her bags and her books fall on the floor. She feels like someone is following her, so she turns around to look but no one is there. As Danielle is walking down the lane we will have a close up of her face and a mid shot of her walking past.
Extra shots include leaves rustling so that Danielle feels as though someone is behind her.

Scene 2 - Danielle is about to leave the lane. Here we have the first shot of the killer, this will be shown by a cowboy shot. This will be of the killer holding the gun whilst Danielle is out of focus walking. We will also use a close up of the killers face, only revealing their eyes. This adds a dramatic feel to the scene, as we don't know who the killer is.

Scene 3 - Danielle will be crossing the road while the killer will be behind her hiding in the shadows. At this point Danielle has realised she is being followed. When she is on the island on the road, she swiftly turns around to discover the killer behind her on the pavement. The music stops playing, there is a deafening silence.

Scene 4 - The killer pulls the trigger with an over the shoulder shot. At this point there is no time for Danielle to escape. As he falls back after she has been shot, she will fall in slow motion, to let the viewer realise what has happened. We will also include a birds-eye view of Danielle dead on the island to show her blood wounds.

Scene 5 - We will use a close up of Danielle slightly raising her head to look at the killer from across the road. As the camera pans across, a car passes and the killer has mysteriously vanished. Danielle eyes close and her head falls.

Scene 6 - We then will cut to the morning where a fellow friend has spotted the unfortunate body and starts to run towards her. She is very distressed and falls to her knees. A police woman appears and comforts Danielle's friend. She places a sheet over the body and rolls out police tape around the scene.

Task 10 and a half: Props

This police tape will be used by our police officer or investigator! We will show this prop using a close up of the tape being unraveled in slow motion. A mid shot may also be used whilst the tape dramatically sways in the wind, mirroring the death of Danielle.

This fake blood will be used for the victim who will be Danielle lying on the floor unfortunately dead. This will show our audience that clearly Danielle was murdered and she is dead. It brings realism and authenticity to our opening sequence.

This prop will be used by the killer who will be portrayed by Melody, we chose the gun because it is a quite dramatic prop to use also it's quite fitting to the theme. Guns are stereotypically used in murder sequences. Because the gun is fake we will edit in the sound effect of a gun to give the illusion that the gun was fired.

Task 10 Costume ideas: Elliot, Beth and Olivia

 1) Dead teenage girl: Our dead teenage girl would be dressed in her normal sixth form clothes that would get covered in blood from being shot. The school girl will look quite smart but you will be able to tell she is of a young age. She will be wearing her school ID badge, and will be carrying her school bag filled with books.

2) Student: The student that finds the dead victim, will also be a sixth form student. She will be walking on her way to school, so will be in sixth form clothes and a coat, and will also be carrying her school bag.

3) Killer: The killer will be dressed in all black. They will be wearing a black hoodie and a balacklava so that their identity will not be revealed.  Only the killers eyes will be seen, to build suspense and to make the audience wonder who the killer is. Te killer will also be holding a gun, which is the weapon used to kill the victim.

We got inspiration for the dead victim costume from pretty little lars. This is because they are all young adults and fit with the age range we are going for. Like the first image our victim will be young and blonde, just like the character from the show.

Task 9 Casting Shots : Olivia Beth Elliot

We have chosen Melody to be the killer because she doesn't look like one at all. We want our killer to be really unexpected for the audience viewing. This will add a shock factor to our film.

We have chosen Beth to be the friend to Danielle, she portrays a typical teenage girl who could easily fit in with Danielle's character. Beth will be the one to find Danielles unfortunate body on the ground.

We have chosen Danielle as our victim because, she is a normal stereotypical school girl for the time period we have set the film in. Danielle looks sweet and innocent so we thought that she would fit this role well.

Task 8 Location shots: Beth, Olivia and Elliot

This is the first angle in our location we will be using. We will be using a long shot so we see her whole body and the long path she will be walking down. We also will be using a long shot to see how small and vulnerable Danielle is as she's surrounded by really big trees.

We are then leading to a following shot to show Danielle's new path and where she will be going. We think we will be putting Melody in the corner in the shadows, as theres no dialogue this will be a little foreshadow of what happens next.

There is also a long shot when it goes to the next lane. This part is the mysterious part as it has a rough ground with lots of puddles, we will also zoom in on a puddle to see the killers foot steps. It will then lead to a cowboy shot to seeing the killer the weapon that will kill Danielle, with Danielle walking off in the distance.

Danielle then approaches the width restrictors we again do a long shot for this as well. As she walks round the corner we have Melody standing next to the width restrictors, Danielle then turns and realises she's being followed so you see her speed up around the corner.

This  is going to be a handheld shot where Danielle begins to run, we have chose to do a handheld shot to shows Danielle's emotions at the time. While the handheld shot is being done she is running.

This is the shot where Danielle gets killed. So Danielle gets shot on the crossing by Melody on the other side, a car then drives past and as it drives off Melody vanishes, with Danielle still lying on the floor. It then fades to darkness.

This will be shot in the morning. It will be a long shot of the road with Beth King frantically running down the road because she's seen Danielle. It then cuts to a shot with her lying at the Island with Danielle crying. It then cuts to Olivia putting tape round the island and the body is gone, melody is standing in the background while this is going on. It then fades to darkness.

Task 7 Target Audience Data and Research : Olivia and Beth

Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.

Who are the target audience?

Our target audience are based on people who like mysteries. We feel this will be for both males and females under the age of 25. We feel this is because it is based around young people so the younger generation would probably be more interested in the film. We were influenced by the film taken and the TV drama series Broadchurch, as they are both very gripping and mysterious and link to our genre.

Why females and males under 25?

We have picked this age range because our film is based around students so targets school and university ages. Seeing as the murder is based around school students, it may make this age range question their peers and everyday surroundings. For example Waterloo Road 2009 when Maxine Barlow gets shot and killed by her boyfriend Earl Kelly. We like this example of crime but we also want to base it around mystery and not find out who the killer is until the end.

Research

We looked on the website IMDb so we could research and collect ideas about mystery murder dramas, we did tho to get inspiration for our own. We also wanted to see what target audiences they have. We found this research very useful as there was many films we came across that didn't know existed. For example the company Warp X with the film Donkey Punch.

Task 6 25 Word Pitch : Olivia and Beth

This is our 25 word pitch. We found this task quite easy as our pitch is only 23 words. We like this pitch because we feel it is quite short and snappy but also draws the audience in wanting to know more. We feel that this pitch really sums up what the main storyline is about.

Student found dead. Is school as safe as you may think? As the tangling tale unwinds, we discover who the malicious killer is.
