This is the opening sequence to Les Miserables, It starts of very dramatic with dark mysterious lighting. You can see Text with the title '1815 twenty six years after the start of the French revolution a king once again on the throne of France'. As the camera zooms into the slaves pulling the ship in, there is very classy music to fit with the classical theme of the film. The music sets the pace of the film right from the start.

Next we get a close up of the main character and you hear the sound effects of the water splashing everywhere and strain of the workers. There are many cuts till the point where the camera pulls it self up to Russell Crowe.
Here we see him standing above everyone else showing his towering authority to the peasants. this is shown by a mid shot. You can tell he's in charge by the outfit he is wearing. He is in a royal blue suit. while the workers in in brown bloody tattered clothing.
You see the slaves walking in an orderly fashion. this shows that someone controls them as they are chained. The man in control who is played by Russell Crowe stops one slave and makes him go back and pick up apart of the ship on his own. He follows the order as he has no power over the commander.
